‘Tourism, livelihoods and biodiversity conservation: The implications of policy interventions at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda’

Wilber’s research focuses on tourism related policy interventions aimed at linking livelihoods and biodiversity conservation at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda. It analyses the introduction, development and implementation of these interventions as well as their implications in addressing livelihood and conservation concerns. The research is intended to contribute to debates on the appropriate conservation strategies that can redeem the threatened biodiversity. More so on the use tourism related ICD approaches in conservation efforts in Africa. It is conducted in a developing country, where poverty and conservation concerns are outstanding in face of tourism development. The study thus generates additional primary and scientific information that is needed in the conservation and development scientific circles.

Wilber has completed the main part of his field research and is currently working in data analysis and write up of the results.
