April 12-14, 2010 – Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

The second research seminar, next to reflections and discussions on administrative issues, was entirely dedicated to refine the common research agenda until the end of the project and beyond. In the first research seminar a rough outline of research themes was defined and all partners were asked to develop strategy papers and/or case studies in relation to these topics in tourism:

  • value-chain analysis
  • policy arrangements and power relations
  • management and planning
  • capacity building, education and training.

The second meeting provided the platform for all partners to present individual research ideas and discuss amongst eachother to define a way forward. Conclusively, a publication plan and an action plan were developed, guiding the common research ambitions until the next and final meeting in Kampala in June 2011, thereby laying the foundations for a cooperation also beyond the formal conclusion of the 3A-STEP project.

Next to this commitments towards the implementation of the education modules have been formalised.
